Some how its weird Christmas is so different and so much the same.

Because there can’t be a Christmas without going to church, at least in my opinion, I went to attend a service at the church of my host fathers parents, because my host parents aren’t going to any church. So I went to that church at 4PM to help setting out luminaries. And then messed around with some friends before attending three different services. And there it was 12:30. And I realized for the time how far away I am from my family. These so normal, so usual things are the once showing you how big the distance of an ocean really is. But Christmas day (just one in the
USA kinda sad) finally and with it joy and presents, wherefore the last one is more important. This Christmas day wasn’t just for me but also for my host family because they just moved to Albuquerque. So my celebrated Christmas with an open house meaning a lot of people dropped by, had some snacks and talked. This also had the nice effect of eating cookies, chocolate and similar things all day long. And as soon as it came Christmas was over again.

The next day I then went to help to take down the luminaries and after that we somehow made it to seriously spend 8:30h at a Mall. No idea how we made that but we did.

You won’t believe it but
Albuquerque really had snow a few days ago. We had about 4cm of it and it lasted for about 5 hours. But it was reason enough to cancel school. Which I personally can’t understand but I like it, who wouldn’t like to have a day of?

 
Yesterday I went to see the “River of lights” a event of the botanic garden of Albuquerque which is really need to see. It is a setup of all kind of lights formed into animals that move or into plants. I went there together with the other YFU students in Albuquerque. Or at least that was or plan. Unfortunately two of us four students didn’t have time do to sport events and Christmas celebrations. So it was just me my host father our Rep and Pop (hope I spelled that right) a girl from Thailand. What fore I have to say people from Asia tend to have a very hard time to pick up the English language. Assuming that Pop is kind of average.

Today I finally had time to go to one of Sandias Basketball games. Unfortunately we lost. The Matadors kind of suck at Basketball this season so far we have one win out of 5 games and that was a last second win. But who cares nobody is coming to see the game either way everybody is just there to socialize. And here I want to note that Cheerleaders and Basketball don’t go as good together as Cheerleaders and Football. They are just way more involved in the whole thing than they are into Basketball.

There is one thing that came to my mind during my lit final about which I would like to talk. And this thing is language. Because I noticed that my German is pretty bad on time. I started to forget words and I now have an American accent, or so I have been told. But I also adopted habits in English. For example saying like extremely often. I don’t know what American teenagers would do if the word like wouldn’t exist. It is used as everything, sometimes every second word is like. But the weirdest thing I ever heard was a girl describing a movie scene with the word “And then like he died”. Like he died??? Either he died or he survived or may he nearly died but he under guaranty didn’t “like died”. Hope you can see what I am saying

Hey guys so after two month I finally found some time to write again

(During study hall for my last two finals)

By now the football season is over. We didn’t won district but had a great time. Unfortunately I couldn’t see the last games because I was up in
Oregon. Which leads me to Thanksgiving the reason for me to be up in Oregon more exactly in Eugene where me and my host father stayed with his sister. Before Thanksgiving we made a trip to the west coast of the US. The Northern part, where we went to, is basically a big cliff. (I hope to upload a few pictures soon) At the Coast we visited a place called “Devils Churn” where I took a little video (further down). And than Thanksgiving was finally there. From my point of view a great tradition. But first let me tell you where we actually celebrated. We celebrated at a very nice place the house of one of the brothers of my host fathers sisters husband. His house stand nearly all by itself in a forest, the neighbors life all about half a mile away. And to get ourselves hungry we went on a hike trough the hundreds of years old forest. Which was quite an adventure because there are no trails, only plants, plants, plants. And then the was the food and oh my good it was quite some food. We gathered with about 30 people and I guess the food would have been enough for about 50 . So we ate and ate and ate and in the moment where we were so filled up that we couldn’t eat anymore the desert was presented and we just had to eat some more. Another, I would say nice thing was that this family tends to just have daughters. I wont complain

Right no we are in finals week that means everyday two hours of study hall than two hours one final, lunch and than two hours a second final. Which really is to much time especially for the finals because the final I until now spend the most time on took my about 70min. Ok so that is all you need to know about finals

And this is all I can think of right now and I need to start studying for my lit final so I will write more soon. (This time for real)
